2002-12-02 - 9:08 p.m. I love to walk into the music building through "the tunnel." When you first walk in there is no sound at all, it's just you and your thoughts. And as you approach the percussion studio, you can hear random marimba playing. The sound of the marimba just floats by you. . .as if nothing really existed almost. And then you walk up the stairs and walk through a door near the band room. Depending on the time of day you can hear a variety of ensembles. My favorite has to be any of the jazz ensembles. . .I love to listen to them rehearse. Next, you will walk past the wind practice rooms, and hear all the fluster and commotion that is created by all of the stressed out people, trying to prepare for a lesson, a concert, a recital, and a jury all at the same time. I dunno, I just love the way the sound floats around me. . . .until I'm ready to practice, and then I go find a room isolated from everyone else so I can't hear them. This would be do to major insecurities on my part. . . .hmmm. . .should work on that. . . Ahhh, the music building.
